CoCreation.com is a brainchild of my own. It's essentially a combination of Linkedin.com, Kickstarter.com and Tumblr.com. When I first found out about Kickstarter I appreciated what it was trying to do but I didn't like that every project was asking for money. In CoCreation each person would be asking for a team. Both have the goal of new companies, products, and projects becoming reality, but they have different methods and platforms.
In the next few months my first adult coloring book will be released. Soon after Crop Circles is released, I will begin work on Civilizations, and further release Apocalypse. I loved the theories about ancient civilizations being connected to aliens as well as all of the Y2K and 2012 end of days predictions. I am not as pessimistic as some about our future here on earth but these theories did inspire some fun worlds for people to color in.
This conference is held every year by the company Monocle. In 2007 Monocle published a magazine based on business, culture, design and much more. The company is now a magazine, a radio, a clothing line, and film studio. Their conference would be held in an intimate palace so the guest badges, brochures and merchandise had to match the setting while the conference app and website needed to be a bit more engaging. Monocle’s brand identity is already strong, so I used Vienna’s history and physicality to push the exclusivity and the activities held during the conference.
For the past 30 years San Antonio has celebrated its Asian inhabitants and their cultures. What began as a simple Chinese New Year celebration has become a festival that brings together a wide array of backgrounds and ancestry. I sought to combine Asia and Texas into meaningful icons. Both being big and proud, I thought it best to focus on the icon and leave breathing room for the homage to Chinese and Japanese vertical writing style.
The Museum of Osteology in Oklahoma City needed a little face lift. At the moment their website is welcoming, warm and happy. They have pictures of children visiting during school trips who have bright eyed, drop jawed faces. My series of posters sought to capture that feeling of wonder that children have when seeing something as giant as the whole skeleton of a blue whale, as well as the delicacy of the skeleton of a mouse.
In honor of my late best friend Brad Killen, I directed a film along with his girlfriend at the time, Addy Parham. After 22 days of filming, spray painting, and rambunctious nights, the storyline was complete. Brad's older brother Jake Killenand I edited this film into our masterpiece! We hope this film can inspire those of you who have lost a loved one to make it into a celebration for them.
I have always been interested in making music videos, sometimes even more than I was interested in my fine art. This song specifically brought forth tons of emotion and I would find myself coming up with story lines that emphasized the climax of the song. These four cello players are amazing, I only hope my story enhances their own. As a student I was thankful to get the chance to break out of my normal graphic design mentality.
